A heart beat from ash
her voice echoes through
trees across the poppy fields.
Her land overflows with
the swell of seas spilling
down mountains through
Inundated valleys where
wheat fields thrived.
She has given her all,
her forests are ravaged,
hollow bones protrude
through blistered skin.
What is left is raging volcanoes
Spewing lava she never
meant to spill.
Unwavering crusader
She reaches out to courage
eyes deep wells of wisdom
at war with apathy.
Bruised from battle
forsaken by greed her cries
rise above the mountains
Penetrate the seas
she cries out to you and me
A plea for dignity
“America Last: Under Trump, US Now the Last Holdout from Paris Climate Accord”
USA TODAY
Since the US pulled out of the agreement, more than 2,700 leaders from states, cities, and businesses—representing 160 million Americans and $6.2 trillion of the US economy—have ramped up their efforts to curb climate change, sending a resounding message to our federal government and the rest of the world: We are still in. wow. this poem is perfect for today, because where i’m at it’s currently earth day. this brings tears to my eyes; i remember last year i trekked up this mountain in China and it was devastatingly beautiful. this world gives us everything, but we don’t give anything back 😦

Thank you Betty, it should be, we should be listening and taking action, just yesterday I watched a news report on the devastation of mountains of discarded plastics in our oceans. It’s shameful. ❤

I know….it makes my heart ache. And we need more than one day a year to remind, teach, raise awareness. But there are those who want to shrink our national monuments, exploit every piece of land they can get their hands on….those who don’t care about our beautiful fellow creatures on their way to extinction. Thank you for being one of those who does care. ❤️

I too hope it’s not too late. Our “leaders” are trying to take us backwards. Hopefully the pendulum will swing the other way soon. ❤️

A beautiful plea for the Earth, Holly. I don’t understand how some people expect to survive without air and water. We are not on the Earth but of it. I believe the Earth will survive in one form or another, but humans may not.

Well my dear, I could not get my reader to load and i am glad it did eventually so that I didn’t miss your wonderful words that say everything there is to say to us guardians, not owners, of the planet. xxxxxxx

I will not lose faith! I see this era as a realignment. Canada has nasty, embarrassing issues. We are a large land mass, but a small population country. No one really looks at us….. but….

Can I wear my pony boots? 👢👢 be right up. ✈️

You can wear any boots you want dear Holly!
However, I suggest a supportive & cushioning pair of sneakers. You have not walked until you’ve walked with me!
Once back at the bank (yes, I live in a 225 year old bank) the Pony Boots come on, the wine is poured and we revel in what we have discovered on that day. The band will play, and we Go-Go dance the night away! ❤

A Harley? Must be yours. Bring her on up! All I’ve got is a pair of old roller skates. (pre – in-line .. lol)

I can do skating! No helmets though. We are too cool for that. 😎

Of course no helmets! It would interfere with the flow and dyna-flow of the tresses. 😎

Your cause is close to my heart also. It is possible the like minded might just get our message across. It’s not just Trump who has lost the plot. We talk a good game over here. Sadly we don’t play a good game.
