In this dream my arms
are the branches of trees
and you are my nourishment.
Cut me down to a boat.
My spine is a sturdy keel
my hair a furl of sails in

the dark sky of uncertainty.

A lighthouse is my only lamp
the stars held captive in your hand.
If the sea does not capitulate
red sails cast into a cleft
too wide for me to cross,
I was trying to get to you.

  1. Ahh, I adore this dream poem!

I feel the keel, I sense the wind in the (red) sails but mostly I feel the heartache of trying to get to my love.

    Beautiful, Holly! xoxo

  2. When you write pieces about reaching…
    about touch looking for touch,
    heart looking for heart,
skin looking for skin, dancing with soul,
    my heart bounces a little
    and tries to believe again
in all those things a heart hates so much to let go of.

          1. P.S. Iโ€™ve tried reducing screen glare for the reader by changing the webpage backgrounds to light grey instead of bright white. Do you think that helps make on-screen reading easier for the eyes?

  3. Love the personification here Rene. Those who have sailed on ocean tides know and feel the yearning in the poem. No mountains too high or oceans to deep for a heart seeking another. I posted a poem the other day that is pure House of Heart influence. Youโ€™re the best! ๐Ÿค—

    1. Thank you Dan. If there is a way it will be found sailing endlessly is not good, ๐Ÿ˜Š. I have to come over, WP is keeping us apart again. You could tie a string on your finger to let me know when youโ€™re writing. ๐Ÿค—

          1. Haha! Not a new idea but whatever works. I could wear one too in case you forget I can come looking for Hyperion. Maybe spice it up with different colors to make it interesting. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒป

          2. Thank you so much Rene, everyoneโ€™s kind thoughts kept us going strong as we waited for news. My youngest born has a heart of gold and a school music teacher discipline. She makes sure her dad eats right and keeps that lymph system moving through exercise. I love it when she scolds me. Itโ€™s so cute. We return the good vibes for you and your coworkers. Hang in there, Rene. All things like this burn themselves out. All we have to do is make sure we are still standing when the bug gives it up and goes away.

          3. You are truly blessed with a beautiful family. Of course they will take care of Dad , they may get rough. Thatโ€™s the objective, hang in there till we reach the other son. My son is doing his internship in anesthesia this year. No Anxiety at all here!! We will all do our best. Listen to your keepers ( hehe) do your exercises!

          4. Oh wow! I bet youโ€™re secretly proud of that smart young intern. Our future is assured with young men and women like ours coming up in the ranks. Dont tell her I said this, but my daughter can exercise her daddy into the dirt. I donโ€™t know where she gets all that get up and go. ๐Ÿ˜

          5. Ah, my favorite personality traits. A strong and tenacious person will accomplish what the seek to do. I really try hard to invest my time and resources in young people starting out on their own. Itโ€™s a true challenge with everything expensive and everything with a short lifecycle. The clever oneโ€™s find a way if given a chance to succeed.

          6. They do though for many it is a struggle. You are making a good investment in the future , thatโ€™s what they are and we will have to move over and I expect there will be a lot of changes taking place. These young people donโ€™t just follow in the footsteps anymore. ๐Ÿ˜Š

          7. This is very true. I am ready to go fishing and let the younger generation have their turn. They canโ€™t make any progress with me plugging up the system with ancient dinosaur ideas about how things should be done.

    1. Such beautiful words Michel. I love the notion of being a beautiful ( if somewhat gangly) frigate bird sailing the blue seas . At the moment I would fly high in search of a tropical paradise filled with all manner of flora and fauna, become an indigenous bird to that Isle. Thank you dear Michel. Love, โค๏ธ

  4. Exquisite words that conjure up a beautiful image of magical imagery…
Sending love dearest Holly, may your sails forever billow in the freedom of the breeze…. May your back be forever strong to hold you on course… And may the stars in your eyes never diminish…

Sending love and well wishes dearest Holly…
Much love your way โค ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ˜˜
