When all that I want is so far away
and all that is left is solitude,
I chant your name through warm
currents of breath or sharp ice
shadows of entities.
I’ve etched my likeness into the stars
a dreamer in fields of flowers
a bouquet of affection fragile jonquils
pressed against a heart.
Tethered to cloud banks of silvery sleep
we meet in fantasies and the
sweetness of a lover’s suffering.

  1. This poem is what dreams and sweet fantasy is made of. What if Fanny Brawne had confessed such things to John Keats in his last days quarantined from his love. I imagine how much more his poetry would have yearned for her and what he in turn confessed to Fanny in his letters. There is something eternal in your words.

  3. So lovely Rene, such enchantment behind your words. This reminded me of a romantic genie being summoned, the far away line coupled in with the whispering breath of warmth bringing love out. Such romance and beauty.🌹

  4. Oh MY GOD, this is awesome. Thank goodness I saw it on John’s site. I had my older girl over last night and I fell behind on things . I would have hated to have missed this exquisite piece.

  5. Dear Holly,
As you are tethered to clouds, I am bound to your words.
Where have all the lovers gone?
Perhaps they are in the fantasies you have provided with your stars and jonquils. I know I am.

  6. On another note:
There will be live music downstairs tonight.
    Norm & 4
    Rhythm guitar/singer
    Lead guitar/keyboards (Norm)
Drums – (my absolute fave – Sasha)
    Percussion
    Bass Guitar
Holly, it has been 4.5 months since the guys played.
No girlfriends or pals allowed!!!!!!!! Just the 5 guys, and they have lots of room to social distance.
I will be upstairs, listening to the music waft through the old plank wood floors, and drawing.
Eeeeeee… I am so excited! It’s been too, long.

        1. I so appreciate your sharing Chuck. Working here and very angered at the lack of response to the pandemic and now the blatant efforts to block the vote. Has he no Shame, no morals, and to our GOP senate have they no spine?
          Hunker down stay safe!
