Your lips against my skin

make my bones smolder.

You are subtle like the imprints

of fingertips pressed along

my thighs, dissolving into

one another.

Can you read my life with

my heart beat in your palm

with Scorpio eyes recycled

like the mist of morning rain.

we are sun and moon falling

can love survive us?

  1. I always have a favorite line, well . . almost always. But every now and then it becomes damn near impossible for me to pick just one. Like now.

“You make my bones smolder” . . I thought WOW, that’s it.

And then you go and write “can you read my life with my heart beat in your palm?” And I go WOW again.

And then “Scorpio eyes recycled . .” And okay, you see what I mean?

Wow. Just wow. To all of it.

  2. Love will survive.
Ah…. yet, the poem is so hot, will I survive love?
Will I ever recover from the piercings of your magically sensuous words?
Let me linger. I invite the falling of day and night.

          1. I agree!
However, when the guys here do jazz, it’s more like jazz/rock…Think Frank Zappa “Hot Rats” album.
Tonight will be classic: a big chunk of Stones, maybe Fly Like An Eagle,(they love playing that one) some Steppen Wolfe, Hollies, Tommy James & the Shondells (Crimson &Clover, Mony Mony, ec. !
            🥁🎸🎼. Oboy…Art Night!

          2. I know! I don’t even want to go down there, in a mask.😷 Like, if it was a Zorro mask, that could be okay. Anyway, I love drawing to the music! xoxo
Will attempt to draw the tornado (Etamilc Egnahc) sucking up the Art Gowns tonight! xo

They don’t stay/play as long as they did pre Covid, but that’s good, less time together.
Last night seemed all Bob Dylan and The Who. Just sent you a new RR that I quite like!

          4. Yeah…. fab music!
I still have the final drawing to complete… where the Art Gowns Models get sucked up into the tornado. It will take me a few days, but I am sending you the link and passcode for the rough draft of the post, in about 5 – 10 mins.
I put the unfinished drawing in it, so you can see where I’m going! I’m even putting RR’s poster on the building!

This way you can have some time to figure out what song RR might sing!

  3. Oh dear Rene… this was exquisite. Marc (Sorryless, B, one of his many names 😉 ) stole what I wanted to say…
“make my bones smolder” oh my…
“can you read my life with my heart beat in your palm” – grabbed me and made me suck in my breath as my own heart skipped a beat.
You are such a masterful wordsmith…

        1. So Sorryless is a conglomerate? I will be watching for your post Frank. It’s very hot here and rife with Covid and the threat of storms otherwise it’s swell . I hope you are doing great.

  5. I picked up a star,
    broke it,
watched the light flow out across the sky.
    But I didn’t want
    these cosmic colours
    anymore.
    I wanted something real,
    something to touch
the way people do in stories
    before we
    send them off on courses
    and teach them to forget.
    I picked up a star
and broke it against my thigh…

    because thighs never forget.

    Not like our hands..
our fragile fingers lie all the time,
just to get through the day,
    making things
to go where all the broken stars were –
    and fill the gaps
    before we run out.

      1. I am overwhelmed by the emotional depth of your poetry, Rene. I’m sure it’s that INFJ thing. You are kind in your tolerance and I appreciate that as well. 😌

        1. my dear Chuck, I do love what you have done with Blue Bird ! I’m really not much of a collaborator but you took one of my poems and created something so wonderful! I’m so grateful for that. The audio is all I’ve had the time to do and that was basically just a test of my blog audio that finally works after the block editor installment. Please send me your stanzas and I will add to that, your poetry is so lovely I doubt I can do much harm. Sending love and hugs.

          3. Haa, We won’t vet that comment but you are so wonderful to think it!! What? You don’t like being “showered with praise?” Rather have a tub of roses? A singing telegram? You can trust me when I tell you any praise I give is honest, from the heart and “Very Well Deserved!!” You remind me of me!! Hard to take a compliment??? I’m so pleased to know that you do honestly believe me and that it makes you happy and puts a smile on your face – Misson Accomplished!!! Ok, no diabetes, but I think I do get spikes after reading your words, especially those like Sun And Moon!!! Let me know if you don’t find the email!
You make my words and I very happy to share a byline with you, My Dear!!!
