Pink sand pulls away
from the glistening shore
melting fondant in the
sticky heat
Minute  ecosystems inhabit
tiny  grottoes in  tide pools
of wet sand
Some days I stroll the coast alone
escaping into secret realms of lovers
where there is no logic but
an aching crush I hold to my breast
a passage between a heart and the
mountains where I left you
Allow me to come undone beneath
tender hands on eggshell
the gentle quake of a sigh upon your
unshaven cheek
Let me   drown in the green river of
your eyes where there
is no threat of war hard silence
or the burden of forgiveness

  1. This was gorgeous, Holly! The reader gets swept away into such an enchanting scene brimming with magic tranquility ❤ You balance that aching longing and bittersweet heartache perfectly too.

    Who doesn’t want that?

Flowing from eyes or thigh-hopping from soft pink tide pools.

  3. I read this poem three times. My head elves just sighed and now they are locked in daydreams of tide pools and being in love at that precise time when there exists no doubts only anticipation. I want to shout at them to wake up, but I’m more inclined to dream along with them.

      1. That is my dream, Rene, to inspire in any way I can, the magnanimous gift of poetry and literature that awakens the long dormant eye that looks inside and out to see what cannot be seen in a pragmatic way. The dream within the dream is not the prison that holds a soul but the key to freedom where the shackles of living and striving are powerless to hold us. You do this for us and make it seem so effortless. You are the dream maker.

        1. Dear Dan you are an incredible source of inspiration and a guide through storm ridden days with your life affirming gift of expression and wings to guide us to worlds of love and joy far from the harsh reality that we all seek to escape, if only for the moment, into your amazing words of hope and beauty. Thank You is hardly worthy but you are so appreciated. 🤗❤️

          1. You are a beautiful affirmation Rene. You have made my day and my most difficult year a blessing. I share this with all the world and I know far beyond my life’s reach is our shared dreams of hope and humanity. If we don’t learn our gentle need for one another in a humane way in these caustic times, we may pass up the greatest opportunity for making a better world in the last 200 years. I would forever prefer my memories of love long past to the memories of self inflicted suffering due to arrogance, greed, and the endless clutching at wealth by any means. Hugs, Dear One, chaste and from afar. 🤗❤️

          2. Argggh! You may need a Red Bull or two to get you through the days. I’ll hang out and do the cool stuff and wait for the pictures of the beach. I really do miss it. The light is lit. 🌔🔥

          3. The rain and wind starts tomorrow for me. So it is absolutely gorgeous weather all week while I’m stuck working and as soon as I get my trail runners out for the week end- Ba-Boom 🌧⚡️. Here comes the rain. I may have to stay home and write another chapter for WP. 🙃🙂

  4. “Allow me to come undone beneath tender hands”, what a sweet line Rene….to just fold in love and become weak to someone’s touch is love all over. So many feelings from start to finish with romantic words to strike the heart with finely tuned arrows of passion. Amazing read🌹🌹

  5. Holly, these three lines which spoke to me most. Logic has little place in those “secret realms.” Keith

  7. Reblogged this on Graffiti Lux Art & More and commented:
I can’t think of any poetry more perfectly drenched in metaphor & as sensually delightful than Holly’s.
I can’t think of something more perfect to follow my previous post, Frank’s “Beach Walk Reflections”. I’m closing comments, so if you want to say something about the poem, do it on Holly’s blog!
    Here’s reflecting on you, kid!
