is A child that looks out

from eyes that weep diamonds

or liquid fire spills from the curve of her lip

burns trails down her cheeks

those voices inside roll on waves

of ocean-like silence from the pit of her belly

(is that possible?)

cold clouds rain down from some god-forsaken

depth that like the tender touch of heartbreak

pleads come and rest.

  1. Achingly beautiful, Rene. You evoke emotions with such visual clarity in your lines of poetry that it sometimes takes me a little while to get back home.

      1. A Floridian Pisces knows another Floridian Pisces. We’re a special child of the sun β™“οΈπŸ”†β™“οΈ born on the eve of spring. Our time of year will be here soon.

        1. β€œ Pisces are dreamers and escapists” oh yes, that’s definitely us. And you possess all the wonderful characters of a true Pisces ♓️ and an amazing human being.
I’m proud to share a sign with you.

          1. You are very kind, Rene. Thank you πŸ™πŸΌ. I believe in connections of all kinds when it comes to people. It’s through these bonds we live a life far greater than we ever could as a single minded individual. In this case, I receive more than I could ever give.

  2. Oh the lines you have woven into weeping hearts and eyes of woman that know so well the sadness and emptiness that yearn to be held. Wow, your lines were just mesmerizing Holly!

  3. Being a woman with more years behind her than ahead, I’ve felt the roar of waves gradually become to the placid sea hiding its turmoil underneath the calm. I’ve regretted the opportunities that were lost, and looked into eyes to glimpse the soul inside that feels so young. Yet few can see the beauty imprisoned there.

          1. It’s true, isn’t it? We act all cool that we are doing well but this constant almost year-long thing has really done a number on us – in large or small ways. I know I’m doing mostly well but I also know others are suffering. πŸŒΉπŸ’ž

  5. Strange how your words always take one far away, even for a brief moment. Merci mon amie.
And a belated Happy Valentine’s. I think I totally missed it. Week’s been a bit hectic.

  6. As smooth as I don’t know what, young Holly. It flows ever forward enticing the reader along the way. Superb. By the way, once more your work evades my β€˜Reader’. I guess β€˜seek and one will find’ is all WP have left me with. Irksome, yet in the case of your work, a worthy one. Regards, The Old Fool

      1. Yes, all is well considering we got hit with six inches of snow Sunday night and an ice storm last night. Bottled water on hand. Not good for our little doggie who isn’t a fan of cold and snow! LOL You are so sweet to send your power companies to help us with power outages. Not all of this is downed trees some of it is Texas incompetence. An example, there are 3 power grids in the U.S. – the east coast grid, the west coast grid and the TEXAS grid! Texas is ready for succession? Thanks to Florida for being so kind to Texas!
Hope you are having a great Day, My Dear!!

          1. Thanks so much for thinking of us here!! You are so right. Many people are really suffering – governmental incompetence at the Texas state level. People have died from Carbon Monoxide poisoning trying to keep warm. Yes, the storm that hit us Sunday and Wednesday went on a rampage across the east too. Some people are saying something about “Climate Change”? πŸ˜’πŸ˜’ So many are Climate deniers.
Hope you are safe and warm, My Dear! Having a good TGIF or better yet off work?

          2. I was just thinking of you Chuck, watching these terrible scenes fro Tx.
It’s disgraceful but typical of states run by Rep Governors. My heart goes out . I strongly suggest they make better decisions at the polls. Stay safe Chuck. β€οΈπŸŒΉπŸ’•

          3. Ha! You are funny, Dear! I wish! We tried hard this last election maybe in 2 or 4 years. It would be easy if all those who were eligible to vote did! We both suffer with GOP Governors. I guess we have to live with hope in our hearts??
