Gently winding

the current that we sail

softly gliding

this way –

no, fly there.

Hearts beating,  throats

pulsing, supernovae bursting

more brilliant than the sun.

Alone i become

the pulpy heart of a

sand piper begging salt

with soulful eyes

whose cry unravels

the deepest maze or

 spun gold coils.

You and I ,

the sky and sea,

and we the cord strung between.

          1. Would be fun right? Love BMW’s , not trying to influence you. Lots of wonderful back roads your way. Anecdote: two of my best friends (married couple) riding slow and easy on a brand new Electraglide his wealthy brother in law had given him, along the Tomoka Loop when in sweeps a buzzard and crashes into his helmet hard, he lost control of the bike and crashed into the ditch totaling the bike. Both were hurt pretty badly.
After recovering same brother in law replaced the bike with an identical, three months later an guy about 90 pulls out at an intersection and … yep. He lived to tell the story but doesn’t ride anymore.

          2. Fortunately, out of the tens of thousands of miles I put on motorcycles in my youth, and about 200K miles I put on bicycles in my racing days, I was never hit by a car. — I had some close calls. However, I have had many high speed crashes on both motorcycles and bicycles. I’m surprised I lived through some of them.

      1. I really do want a book so I can read your poems over and over. But I understand how difficult and time consuming that can be. Still…your poems deserve a wide audience and to be kept next to the arm of a chair, or beside a pillow.

          1. Ha, I have no doubt it is! My faves are still the more bittersweet pieces but I’ll read anything and when something ‘hits’ me then it creates an emotional impact; the style or genre then does not matter, only that emotional hit! 😉

  1. Holly, are the words inspired by the picture or did you find a picture that matches the words? This poem makes me feel like the woman was lost at sea with only the sky and ocean in her view. Two vast vistas that join on the horizon. At long last, she is swept into the sky by the cord. Maybe I am just a hopeless romantic. Keith

    1. You are an amazing romantic Keith. I discovered the pic to go with this little poem. I liked the image of the the girl swinging from the plait of hair. Thank you my friend. Your words mean a lot to me.
