The whorl of summer

lifts the hem of her skirt

unfurling  sunsets

of  crimson and gold.

She festoons the earth

with unfastening coils

tight throated corollas

raw bursting blisters.

Warring birds swoop up

new born buds

unwilling to wait for

Winters red meat.

  1. Honestly, I want to make an intelligent comment, but I cannot quite come up with anything intelligent to say, except this blows me away.

        1. Thank you Chuck, it’s quite overcast here due to a tropical storm in the gulf. So, a respite from the heat. I’ll be back with you re the poem. It’s quite lovely! ❀️

          1. Glad you are getting a respite. Forecast to be near 100 for 7 days. I just heard about that tropical storm. They are showing it headed toward New Orleans. Glad you have a break – hoping you are able to miss the storm!! Thanks for your sweet comments!!!

          2. It’s an incredibly hot summer, that doesn’t bode well for our hurricane season storms esp coming off the coast of Africa. Stay cool and thanks !πŸ’•πŸ€—πŸŒΉπŸ’ž
