Where are you my love?

Chasing shadows along storm swept streets?

Turbulence has exfoliated the rosy blush

from my cheeks.

If I speak my words may bleed down

our silent walls.

If you change your mind I’ll be

waiting by the front gate

dried flowers in my hair.

  1. Wonderful poem, Holly. The Cowsills bring back memories. I commented on Shey’s blog earlier in the week, when I was a teenager I would ride my motorcycle up to Placitas and hang out with the hippies in their communes and the nudists in the colonies. Lots of flower girls back then. BTW I put you down as one of my favorite poets on the Go Dog Go Café’s “Promote a Poet/Writer Thursday”: https://godoggocafe.com/2021/07/22/promote-a-poet-writer-thursday-july-22-2021/?c=67559.

    1. I knew you were once hanging out with hippies. I’m so jealous! Timothy that’s so kind and generous of you to mention my poetry at Go Dog Café. I’m truly honored. 🌺

          1. Hahaha! How about bikers, since you are a biker? I had some friends who associated themselves with the Hell’s Angels when I was a teenager. Those guys and gals were a lot more intense.

  2. Poignant, dear Meece!
Beautifully written. If N was gone, I’d wait until all the flowers in the world dried.
An antique brass spittoon sits on the floor of our plant room.
In it is every rose N has ever bought me, mostly red but some white. At the bottom is dust, rose petal dust. At the top parchment petals wait their turn to join the rest. Fresh dried will be added soon. I believe a bouquet of roses will arrive in a few days.

      1. According to my culture and understanding, the dried flowers refer to “waiting” … Maybe, you waited enough so that they went dry! Maybe, it is the end of the season and that you will get some fresh new ones soon!
